Customs Declaration (TANSAD)

Customs Declaration (TANSAD)

Last reviewed 29 September 2026

What it is

The Tanzania Single Administrative Document (TANSAD) — the customs declaration generated inside TANCIS (Tanzania Customs Integrated System) once a licensed Clearing and Forwarding Agent lodges the export entry, carrying the assessed duties/taxes for the shipment.

When it's required

Required for every formal export shipment through Tanzanian customs, on both the Mainland and via Zanzibar's ports — customs clearance is a Union-level (EAC Customs Management Act 2004) function administered nationally through TRA's TANCIS system.

Who typically prepares it

Lodged by the exporter's licensed Clearing and Forwarding Agent (CFA), not the exporter directly.
