Certificate of Origin
Last reviewed 29 September 2026
What it is
A certificate verifying the country in which the goods were manufactured or processed. May be requested by customs administrations, importers, freight forwarders or banks handling a letter of credit.
When it's required
Required where the buyer, destination customs authority, or a letter-of-credit condition calls for proof of Tanzanian origin.
Who typically prepares it
Issued by the Tanzania National Chamber of Commerce (TNCC, formerly TCCIA) — on its own site, TNCC states it is "the sole institution in Tanzania vested... with full mandate to verify the origin of all goods manufactured/processed in the Country for the export market." Applied for online via TNCC's eCO portal.
