Fumigation Certificate
Last reviewed 29 September 2026
What it is
A certificate confirming a shipment (or its wood packaging material) has been fumigated against pests. Not a general Tanzanian statutory export mandate on its own — most commonly triggered by the destination country's own rules (e.g. ISPM 15 for wood packaging material) or by buyer/contract requirements for bagged, stored agricultural commodities.
When it's required
Only where required by the destination country or the buyer's contract — confirm before shipment rather than assuming it applies.
Who typically prepares it
TPHPA licenses fumigation operators and individual fumigators under the Plant Health Regulations, 2023; the exporter or freight forwarder contracts a TPHPA-licensed fumigation company directly.
