Inspection Certificate

Inspection Certificate

Last reviewed 29 September 2026

What it is

A certificate from an independent inspection body confirming a shipment's condition, quantity or specification prior to loading. Tanzania Bureau of Standards' own export-facing offering is "Technical Assistance to Exporters" — a tiered, largely advisory service (free for already-registered products, a small online fee for small quantities, or a written application for larger unregistered quantities) rather than a single blanket mandatory export inspection. International inspection companies (e.g. SGS, Intertek, Bureau Veritas) also operate in Tanzania and are commonly used where a buyer or destination market requires independent pre-shipment inspection.

When it's required

Varies — driven by buyer/contract requirements or destination-market rules more often than a single Tanzanian statutory mandate. Check the specific commodity guide.

Who typically prepares it

TBS (advisory track) or an independent inspection company, arranged by the exporter.
