Tanzania Plant Health and Pesticides Authority
About TPHPA
Tanzania's National Plant Protection Organization (NPPO) under the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC). Established by Act No. 4 of 2020, merging the Ministry of Agriculture's Plant Health Services with the former Tropical Pesticides Research Institute (TPRI). Issues phytosanitary certificates for plant and plant-product exports and regulates pesticides. By law (Act No. 4 of 2020) TPHPA's mandate applies to Mainland Tanzania — Zanzibar's phytosanitary/plant-health function sits with the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources, Livestock and Fisheries, Zanzibar, rather than a stand-alone agency.
